Note To Moderator
Dear moderator, my foundation portfolio: G321. My coursework brief was to plan, research, create and then evaluate my own music magazine (3 pages front cover, contents page and double page spread). Please feel free to use the labels on my blog to ensure easy navigation. I chose to create a music magazine which focused on the musical genre of metal.

Evaluation Question 3: What Kind Of Media Institution Might Distribute Your Media Product And Why?
Question 3
I think that IPC would be a good media institution for my music magazine to be distributed with. I think this because some of the other magazines that they currently publish are very popular and up to date. NME is one of the magazines that they publish and is very popular around the country. Although I think that NME has a different target audience and a different genre to mine, I still think that my magazine would work nicely against it. IPC only publish one music magazine so adding another on to their collect to benefit them as it would be. The institution distributes lots of well known magazines such as Look magazine which is very popular. My target audience would be males aged 15-20 and this is because I want to bring them into my magazine and try and get more males to read magazine. I chose this age gap because this generation of people are the people to be most interested in music and the celebrities featured in my magazine. Also some of the content in the magazine would defiantly appeal to this age.
Evaluation Question 5: Who Would Be The Audience For Your Media Product? and Evaluation Question 5: How Did You Attract/Address Your Audience?
Question 4 and Question 5
Evaluation Question 6: What Have You Learnt About Technologies From The Process Of Constructing This Product?
Question 6
For the creation and construction of my media product I used many different technologies. For example one of those being Serif Pageplus X6 which was the main program I was using to actually construct my product, with the ability to place/create and . This helped massively with my construction, it allowed me to create each separate page (front cover, contents page and double page spread), it was also an easy access piece of technology as I could use it from school and even at home.
Blogger was another program in which I used, however this was not for the construction section, this was for uploading my work and it was where I was able to gain any form of feedback from my teacher on any piece of work I submitted (whether it be finished or not). This feedback that I gained helped me with my construction to improve/add or change parts to ahigher standard.
My Canon 1100D SLR was another decent piece of technology that benefitted my construction, it meant that I was able to take my own pictures wherever an whenever I wanted. Considering it is an SLR camera as well, it meant that I was able to acquire some much better photos than I would've been able to get with a standard compact camera that the school would've provided
Evaluation Question 7: Looking Back At Your Preliminary Task What Do You Feel You Have Learnt In The Progression From It To The Full Product?
Question 7
At the very beginning of this task we firstly had to make a prelim task to gain a vague understanding as to what we'd be doing. On the right is my prelim displayed
This is my final piece for my music magzine front cover, instantly
i can see a large progression form the prelim to the final piece,
some easy examples would be the use of cover lines as on my prelim
they are very vague and very randomly placed and look strange,
the use of colour has progressed greatly too with my final using very simialr colours to show the branding etc. Other things such as the photos used are much clearer and better and also the fact that my final piece looks far more professional than my original piece. The layout of my final product compared with my prelim task makes it look far more organised therefore making it look very professional just like a real music magazine (like Kerrang, Metal Hammer and NME), other simple things such as the barcode and the price also add to this

I need to see your ICT methods per question please. This isn't really planning of your ideas - it is just things you need to do. Don't forget that your next deadline is on Monday.

Construction Of Front Cover 7th Draft
This is my 7th draft of the construction of my front cover. Since my last draft, i've added in two forms of banners to put pull quotes in so that they therefore stand out to the rest if the front cover and also becuase it's previewing for the double page spread that i created. Next, i will continue to progress with my front cover by hopefully adding in some side images to the left as you can see i have attempted a start on that. These will be coming across as features also included in this magazine, or some fo the main stories that are inside the magazine.Monday, 11 March 2013
Construction Of Front Cover 6th Draft
This is another draft of my front cover, what i've done here is i've chosen a diffrent image for the front cover as i felt that after completing my double page spread construction, my front cover image didn't appear to clearly link to my double page spread. However, i feel that my image here should actually include the whole band mainly because just having half of the band meembers makes the image seem very bare.

More Original Images
These are some more original images of mine, these shots i took were all aimed towards being the main image on my double page spread for my music magazine. They are in a sense all quite similar, but i just wanted to try and experiment with the shots i was taking as these photos were all taken in a photography studio at school, so like i said before with the added ability of using a studio i was able to alter the background/backdrop and the lighting to my own personal liking. In this shoot, i also brought along with me lots of band merchandise (mostly t-shirt and vests) and some fake tattoo sleeves as they went with the theme and the style of music that
i am going for which is metal.

Well done for hitting your dps deadline. You are working really well.
I like the image and the font works well. Be careful of the white text in the article. Can you print it please so we can check how easy it is to read? Try moving your heading as it doesn't integrate well with the image and don't forget about page numbers and pull quotes.

Construction Of Double Page Spread Final Draft
This is my 3rd draft of my construction of my double page spread, I continued and finnished all of the text in my article and check through it to make sure that there are no errors with grammer and that the actual article and the backstory to it actually makes sense. I also experimented slightly with my main title and my sub-heading to make sure that it all fits on the page and that nothing is getting cut off at the sides.
Construction Of Double Page Spread 2nd Draft
This is my 2nd draft of my double page spread, in this draft i've progressed by choosing what i think to be a very fitting image for the spread, i've also began to type out the actual article itself and experiment with diffrent storylines to thev spread etc. In my next draft i will aim to progress furthur with my articles text.

Construction Of Double Page Spread 1st Draft
This is my very first draft for my double page spread, i've began to experiment around with diffrent font styles and font sizes so that i can choose the right style that is suited to my music magazine genre that is "Metal". In my next draft, i'm going to choose between someof my photos that i've taken and then decide which one(s) will be suited best and will generally look the better for the double page spread.

Well done for meeting your contents deadline.
Your layout works well and the editor's letter is effective. Watch the capitals and make sure it is more original than some of your RMAs. You would benefit from tighter cropping of the main image and maybe changing the bottom image too. Keep up the good work.

More Original Images
This is another set or original images that I've taken, so therefore I have a wide variety to choose from for some of my final images, this also given me the opportunity to go out and take some much better and/or clearer images fort my music magazine, resulting In these images shown.

This is a pretty good draft Harry. Well done. I like the creativity with challenging the codes and conventions of direct address. The banner at the top works well - however, all images need to be original so this will need to be changed. Make sure the bar code and cover lines don't bleed off the edge of the page.

Construction Of Front Cover
These are two rough beignnings to my front cover of my music magazine, the one above is the in which people that asked (ages 16-18) for audience feeback said "it's a better and clearer shot" than the one below
that's shown. I personally prefer the one above so therefore i will continue to construct along with it.
